Strategies to Combat the Aging Effects on Our Skin

You can’t help your age, but you can help your skin maintain its youthful glow as time goes on. As your skin ages, it becomes thinner and the oil glands weaken. These changes make your skin more prone to sun damage, which makes it more susceptible to wrinkles and dry skin. To counter the aging process and prevent wrinkles, here are some proven strategies to follow:

Inside and Out: It is important to hydrate your skin both topically and internally. While topical moisturizers are great, it is important to keep your entire body hydrated with water, fruits, and fresh vegetables. Avoid coffee, high sodium foods, alcohol and smoking, as these can all aggravate dryness and lead to wrinkles.

Exfoliation: Chemical Peels are a great option to help maintain a youthful appearance to your skin. The main purpose of a peel is to exfoliate the epidermis, but peels also help lighten any dark spots and clean out blackheads and clogged pores.

Moisturizers: Use two different moisturizers: morning and nighttime. Be sure to use a lighter moisturizer for daytime, so it does not interfere with the application of your makeup. Use a heavier moisturizer at night to penetrate the skin deeper and for longer, allowing you to wake up with refreshed and hydrated skin!
