Conservative Vein Treatments

NON-INVASIVE Treatment Options

Paramus vein treatment model

Conservative treatment is commonly prescribed as an initial approach to treating vein disease. This form of treatment focuses on lifestyle changes that help reduce symptoms, including pain and swelling. Your Paramus vein specialist at Chuback will assess your medical history and symptoms in order to recommend non-invasive measures you can take that are customized to your specific case.

Conservative measures to reduce vascular symptoms may include:

  • Weight management and maintaining a healthy BMI. Being overweight can add extra pressure on your veins, making it harder for them to function properly.
  • Regular exercise. Exercise is essential for healthy vein function. With movement, the calf muscles pump blood back up toward the heart against gravity, helping to prevent any blood from pooling in the legs.
  • Compression stockings. Patients are also encouraged to wear compression stockings. Compression stockings work by exerting gradient pressure on your veins to encourage blood to flow upward in the leg.
  • Dietary Supplements. Taking dietary supplements containing Bioflavonoids have been found to support normal venous function.

While these steps are effective at managing symptoms, they do not address the underlying issue, which is poorly functioning veins that allow blood to pool rather than transporting it back to the heart. As such, conservative treatments are often a temporary measure, though it is very helpful for patients who are unable to undergo minimally invasive treatments.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE TREATMENT OPTIONS

At Chuback Vein Center there are a number of safe, effective, and virtually pain-free treatments available to address vein issues before complications occur. Laser and ultrasound technologies, along with minimally invasive surgical techniques, provide excellent results with minimal discomfort or downtime. All of our treatments are performed in the office under local anesthesia (if required). All procedures are performed within 45-60 minutes so patients can return to their normal daily activities.

Selecting the correct treatment will depend on the specifics of your venous conditions. Your doctor will discuss your symptoms with you and start with diagnostic steps to assess your needs. Our specialists take a patient-centered approach, answering all of your questions and working alongside you to create a personalized treatment plan. We can safely and comfortably help you eliminate problem veins for improved health and confidence.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)

Bergen County Vein Treatments

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) represents a cutting-edge approach to varicose vein management, offering a minimally invasive treatment option with an exceptional rate of success. This innovative technique requires less anesthesia compared to traditional methods, making it a patient-friendly choice.

EVLT utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to meticulously map the affected vein. Following precise identification, a thin catheter equipped with a delicate laser is inserted into the vein. The laser then delivers a controlled amount of heat, effectively sealing the vein and rerouting blood flow to healthier vessels in the vicinity. This redirection of blood flow promotes a reduction in swelling, pain, heaviness, discomfort, and other associated symptoms.

Ambulatory Microphlebectomy

Ambulatory microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to treat bulging varicose veins. This is a simple in-office procedure that removes large varicose veins through tiny incisions with a small hook-like medical tool. Because the incisions are so small, patients will not experience any scarring. Once that large varicosity is removed, patients look and feel better immediately because blood is no longer able to pool in the diseased vein.

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

popular form of treatment

This is a popular form of treatment and is most effective when used to treat smaller, more tortuous veins that are closer to the skin surface.

The procedure utilizes ultrasound guidance to inject a pharmaceutical liquid or foam solution into the vein. This medication causes the vessel’s walls to swell, adhere, and seal shut. Blood is automatically redirected to healthier vessels, and the treated vein gradually gets reabsorbed by the body. Again, this redirection of blood flow to the healthy veins in the area helps to alleviate the symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency.

Visual Sclerotherapy

This procedure is well known for the treatment of small, unsightly spider veins on the surface of the skin. The procedure involves injecting a pharmaceutical liquid solution into the vein, causing the vein wall to collapse and adhere shut.

The treated vein gradually gets reabsorbed by the body over a period of time which improves the overall appearance of the leg. By treating these smaller veins, patients often feel relief from the burning, itching pain that was causing so much of their discomfort. It is important to note that the majority of patients will require several sclerotherapy treatments for optimal results.

VEIN TREATMENT COST

The cost of vein treatments can vary depending on the methods used. The price for laser ablation or phlebectomy is typically higher than the cost of sclerotherapy, which is a less involved procedure. At your consultation, our team will provide you with an estimate of the costs for your specific treatment. Most of the treatments we perform are covered by insurance. Financing options are also available.

Vein Treatment FAQs

Visual sclerotherapy is the most common procedure used for the treatment of spider veins. This minimally invasive treatment involves injecting a special solution into the affected veins to help their walls collapse so they can be absorbed by the body.

Varicose veins are best treated through either endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) or ambulatory microphlebectomy. After carefully assessing your varicose veins, your doctor will help you select the best treatment for your needs.

When valves in the leg veins are damaged enough to hinder blood flow, this is called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Treatments can range from conservative lifestyle adjustments to more targeted treatments like sclerotherapy. Your doctor will thoroughly diagnose any vascular issues present to design your individualized treatment plan.

We use today’s most advanced treatment methods, which involve minimal discomfort. We prioritize your comfort throughout every procedure and may administer local anesthesia to ensure minimal sensation during your treatment.

Most patients begin with conservative treatment. This form of treatment targets lifestyle factors that contribute to vein disease, including diet and exercise. Patients are also encouraged to wear compression stockings. Conservative treatment focuses on reducing symptoms, including pain and swelling, but is not an effective way to treat the underlying issue.

The next steps usually involve minimally invasive treatments. Often required to restore proper circulation are endovenous laser ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, and sclerotherapy. We work alongside you to assess your symptoms and educate you about your options.
