Beyond the physical manifestation of unsightly, bulging veins, venous disorders represent real disease and can significantly decrease your quality of life. Vein conditions requiring treatment include:
Varicose veins occur when the valves in your veins become weak or damaged, preventing your blood from recirculating. Because these valves no longer work properly, the blood begins to pool inside the vein causing them to appear as ropey, knotted protrusions. If left untreated, these bulging veins can lead to more serious health complications including blood clots and ulcers.
Spider veins are the smaller, wispy clusters of purple, blue, or red veins that are visible just below the surface of the skin, and can be found anywhere on the body. Although these kinds of veins are not usually life-threatening, they still have the potential to indicate more serious circulatory problems and should be assessed by a vein specialist.
CVI is the most common underlying vein condition that occurs when the vein wall dilates and the valves stop working properly, leading blood to pool in the legs. This condition often results in bulging varicose veins, spider veins, and symptoms, including but not limited to, heaviness, swelling, calf cramps, itching, and burning pain.
Leg pain can be caused by venous insufficiency or other vein conditions and is a concern that requires proper diagnosis to find the underlying cause. If left unaddressed, leg pain can worsen, swelling, cramping, or restless leg syndrome can occur, and in some cases may result in more serious complications such as ulcers and infections.

Conservative treatment is commonly prescribed as an initial approach to treating vein disease. This form of treatment focuses on lifestyle changes that help reduce symptoms, including pain and swelling.
While these steps are effective at managing symptoms, they do not address the underlying issue, which is poorly functioning veins that allow blood to pool rather than transporting it back to the heart. As such, conservative treatments are often a temporary measure, though it is very helpful for patients who are unable to undergo minimally invasive treatments.
Endovenous Laser Treatment is one of the newest forms of minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins and other forms of vein disease.
This treatment utilizes ultrasound to create a map of the abnormal vein. Once this vein is identified, a very small catheter bearing a thin laser is inserted into the vein. The laser generates a controlled amount of heat, sealing the vein and allowing blood to be redirected to healthier veins in the area.
Ambulatory Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to effectively remove bulging varicose veins.
Once the varicose veins are removed, patients look and feel better immediately because blood is no longer able to pool in the diseased vein.
This treatment uses a super fine needle to inject a medical solution into the veins which causes them to collapse, adhere, and shut. The blood is then automatically redirected to healthier blood vessels and the treated veins are gradually reabsorbed by the body over time, improving the overall appearance of the leg.
This minimally invasive treatment requires no downtime for recovery.
